Click for largerI've been seeing a lot of ads for Microsoft adcenter lately. After seeing this (on a celebrity gossip blog), I've concluded that I'm being shown so many of them because of behavioral targeting. Surely, they don't think that visitors of celebrity gossip blogs have a high composition of Internet advertisers. However, it's my opinion that some frequency capping might be in order. I already have an adcenter account, so the 50-100 impressions I've seen are wasted.

Popurls gets some advertising
I noticed today, that one of my favorite sites, Popurls.com now has a snazzy little 300x250 ad served by Federated Media. Not too intrusive.
Step Up TV spot promotes MySpace profile
I don't watch a lot of TV, but I just saw a spot for an upcoming movie - looks like it's about dancing - called Step Up. Then at the end of the commercial, they pop the URL for its MySpace profile. This is the first time I've seen an offline ad promoting a MySpace profile. Interestingly, this movie doesn't even have its own website.

Yahoo mail gets banners
I just noticed a couple of days ago that Yahoo mail beta now has a 120x600 banner along the side. I've gotta admit that this ad is a little intrusive. When I'm using e-mail, I like having the space maximized. Think about how you would like having a skyscraper taking up a portion of your Microsoft Outlook window.
